Launched Valleys Views and Vines Solo Exhibition

Solo Exhibition by Artist Sylvie Carter

Saturday the 1st October 2022 was a momentous occasion for me, with my first ever solo exhibition with over 40 landscape oil and watercolour paintings, at the historic Rusten House Arts Centre, 87 Collett Street in Queanbeyan.

My exhibition was sponsored by a QPRC Cultural Arts Grant and forms part of the upcoming QPRC Arts Trail 2022 (Weekend 15 – 16th October). The Hon. Nicole Overall MP did a great job opening my exhibition and it was such fun reconnecting with people while sharing my work. It was very well attended and we toasted the day with some French champagne.

Thanks to the wonderful team at Rusten House for their support in hanging my paintings in the two main galleries, where you can find a variety of sized and priced paintings capturing the landscape and stories of the Valleys, Views and Vines in the NSW and Eastern Australian region.

Below is one of my larger oil paintings hanging on the far wall of the 1st gallery, which shows a young packpacker taking a moment to look out across the harbour at Barangaroo while exploring Wendy Whiteley ‘Secret Garden’ at Lavender Bay. A favourite spot for artists and anyone who loves nature and or walking along Sydney harbourside.

Thank you to everyone who attended and anyone who has since visited the gallery, which is open from Wed – Saturday 10 – 4pm. It was a thrill to have you there and to share my work. I also was lucky enough last week to have a radio and podcast interview with the amazing Barbie Robinson from Living Arts Canberra. Barbie asked me about my work while she toured the gallery and discussed my journey and passion to paint. LINK TO INTERVIEW.

The exhibition runs for a few more weeks, so hope to can catch it and if you miss Rusten House, don’t worry, as any of the works not sold plus many more paintings will be transferred to a new gallery at beautiful Lake George Winery, 173 The Vineyards Road, Lake George NSW – Cellar Door.
