QPRC Art Prize Exhibition

The Q – Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre

28 May – 19 June 2021 – Open Tuesday – Saturday 10am – 4pm.

Fragile Equilibrium

What a great experience to have my landscape painting ‘WILD GRASSES AND DUCK AT WINGECARRIBEE CREEK‘ hung in the Queanbean Palarang Council Art Prize competition. Over 70 art works make up this extremely rich and varied exhibition, including 12 sculptures.

My congratulations to all the award winning artists including : Sally Simpson for her bone sculpture entitled ‘Fragile Equilibrium‘; Annette Blair’s glass sculpture ‘Hope‘ and Jarrah Knowles’s photograph ‘Orange Skies‘ of Braidwood and Olivia Bernardoff landscape painting ‘A never ending story’. There is still one more prize to be awarded on the last day of the exhibition – the Viewer’s Choice Prize. This certainly would go a long way towards costs of materials, paints, canvas and framing etc for the lucky artist.

In my mind, all the artists are winners simply for having a go and I’m really proud to be amongst them. Good news also for those art lovers out there, as the works are on sale until the 19th June. So if you have time to visit Queanbeyan and or find yourself in the vicinity I highly recommend dropping into the Gallery. Remember parking is FREE and literally out the front door. While you are there, feel free also to fill in your ‘VIEWERS CHOICE‘ nomination and pop it in the glass box at the front door. Fingers crossed, I or any of the artists in the competition should be so lucky to win your vote.

In summary, this has been a wonderful experience and I have enjoyed meetings some wonderful local artists in the process. Big thank you to Janita and all the team at QRPC, plus the sponsors including Bendigo Bank for their support.
